January 31st, 2024 — In a significant move towards advancing sports development and excellence in South Sudan, Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, along with a senior team from the Ministry, convened a crucial meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, Prof. John Akec.

The primary focus of the discussions centered around strategic collaboration to bolster sports development in the country. One noteworthy initiative proposed during the meeting was the establishment of a Sports Science Institute within the University. This institute aims to serve as a pivotal technical hub for sports development and professionalization.
