The 13th edition of the South Sudan Cup tournament kicked off with a message of peace and unity delivered by Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Joseph Geng Akech at Buluk Playground. Amidst thousands of enthusiastic fans, the Minister emphasized the power of sports to transcend ethnic divides, highlighting the national basketball team’s historic qualification for the Paris Olympics.
Promising further investment in sports, he unveiled plans for interstates tournaments. Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State, and Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, President of South Sudan Football Association, lauded the Minister’s vision, pledging cooperation to overcome challenges and promote sports development.
